DJ

Passionate DJ and resident of the legendary Berlin’s techno club Tresor, who plays house and techno music in Berlin and all over the world. Musically open she tends to oscillate between techno and different house sub-genres.

Born in Dubai and spending her first years with the mix of nationalities from around the world, relocating later to Warsaw with an Chicago episode later on the way, Magda ended in Berlin, Germany, where she finally found her special place.

Her strong interest in music since early childhood, was inspired due to her father musician and composer, who exposed her to the music universe. He bought her first Casio keyboard among other instruments. While playing the guitar, dabbing with the piano, dreaming of becoming a percussionist and a filmmaker, she explored different musical genres, finally discovering clubs and electronic music. She became fascinated by profession of a DJ and vinyl records.

Regardless of graduating in Psychology, her first work experiences with booking artists and organizing parties brought her ever closer to the dj scene, where she discovered deep passion for playing records. What makes a good dj is a blend of proper record selection with musical knowledge behind, eclecticism and technical skills – and that’s a concept she strongly believe in. Whatever she is opening the night, playing in prime time or closing the party, she adjusts easily, providing best possible performance and records selection to fit the night. Good classic or fresh and new sound techno, house or versatile electronic productions, play an important role in her choice of music today. There is only one rule: quality.

Expanding her musical horizons she moved to Berlin – the Mecca of electronic music to find her own place among other creative and open-minded people „I adore this international tangle of people, creative, uncompromising in expressing themselves and the atmosphere of acceptance of any dissidence – this place definitely fits into my soul” – she admits.

Having more than 10 years of experience in playing and collecting records her motto is that: “what is most important, is to do the things for the right reasons…” – meaning performing out of passion and true love for music.

With her appearances around Berlin‘s finest underground clubs and residency at Tresor club, she has an opportunity to meet and share musical experiences with the most respected names in the underground dj industry today.

Female:Pressure

Magda is a member of Female:Pressure – an international network of over 1600 female artists from 66 countries in the wider fields of electronic music & arts that exists since 1998, which fights for equality for female, non binary and trans artists in creative industries.

F:p activity raised public awareness on issues related to females, non binary and trans discrimination and struggles in the wide creative art scene. Thanks to the organization and it‘s efforts, people started to pay more attention to booking policies, re examining 99% males to 1% females/non binary/trans line up‘s at the festivals and parties around the world, as well as inequality issues related to releasing music, equal work distribution and all co-related issues in creative fields.

That is the reason F:P created V I S I B I L I T Y  blog – inspired by Bjork’s Pitchfork article from January 2015, where she notes the lack of photographic documentation of women at work, the collective female:pressure created this blog. Here they offer a visual representation of female producers, DJ’s, media artists and electronic music performers at work. “These are not press photos. This is a collective effort to demonstrate women and their use of technology in music and media production” claims the blog‘s headline.
